NORMAN JAMES MONKMAN Suddenly at his residence on January 29, 2000, Norman passed away at the age of 66. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife Elizabeth (Betty) special niece Diane (Barry) MacIntosh and their daughters, Leah, Sandra and Susan; his son Bob (Bernice) Toews which he was reunited with two years ago; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Rita of Selkirk and Mary (Ed) of Balmertown; three brothers, Murdoch (Mary) of Edmonton, Gordon (Ann) of Australia and Lloyd of Selkirk, and numerous nieces and nephews. During his early years Norman worked on boats in the summer and in the bush in the winter. He then began his own company digging graves. He then went to Selkirk Redi-Mix which he retired from in 1993. Prayers will be said on Tuesday, February 1 at 7:00 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 2 at 11:00 a.m. also in the chapel with Rev. Peter Cain officiating. Special thanks to Diane, Rhonda and Lisa for all their love and support and to Dr. Fuchs, Homecare and the staff at the Selkirk General Hospital during his illness. A real special thanks to his sister Rita who was there to take Norman to his appointments and with his daily needs in the last part of his life.
